The trek to Annapurna Base Camp climbs from the rice terraces around Pokhara to a glacier basin surrounded by 7,000 and 8,000 m peaks, in about four days of walking. It's one of the most varied short treks in Nepal: Gurung villages with slate roofs, bamboo and rhododendron forest along the Modi Khola, and finally the narrow gateway below Machhapuchhre into the Sanctuary.
You drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and walk up to Ghandruk, then on through Chhomrong and Sinuwa to Deurali, and finally to Annapurna Base Camp. Sunrise there, as the first light creeps down the face of Annapurna I, is the moment the whole trip has been building to. After breakfast, the helicopter lands at base camp and flies you to Pokhara in about twenty minutes, saving three or four days of steep descent on tired knees.
The price per person depends on the size of your group and includes the bus to Pokhara and back, all lodges and meals on the trek, a guide, porters and the helicopter flight out.
